The 2017 remake of the classic Stephen King novel “IT” has been tremendously successful and provides lots of Pennywise-provoked scares for us to scream at and enjoy. The IT movie actually serves as a great drinking game, too, and there’s the silver lining that if you can’t remember the scariest parts of the film, then they can’t haunt your dreams, can they? From what I recall there might have been a clown in the film…?
Combine frights and drinks in a hilarious mashup with this drinking game. We made it to work best with beers, but if you’re drinking something else just reduce the size of your sips!
IT (2017) Movie Drinking Game Rules
Take a sip when:
- Bill or Billy is said
- Each time “IT” appears on screen
- Whenever there’s a river, stream, or lake in shot
- When there’s a group shot of some of the Losers’ Club riding bikes
- Whenever Henry is a massive prick
- Whenever Richie (the guy with huge glasses) makes a bad joke (Hint, most are aimed at people’s mothers)
Finish your drink when:
- Pennywise dances
To add a hardcore element to your night drink to these two things as well as the previously mentioned rules.
- Every time Eddie is a clean freak
- When you see a red balloon
Towards the end of the film the name Billy gets shouted so much you’ll twitch with dread when you hear it. If the frequency of how often it’s said towards the end seems like too much drinking, then rely on the tried and tested Gimli Logic.

Please drink responsibly and don’t allow this movie drinking game to make you feel sick or ill. If you’re getting too drunk, stop playing.
